Valentine's Pillow Fight Club

While Saturday subjected couples all across the world to conform to corporate norms, we protested by releasing some well needed steam and pillow fought in San Francisco. Towards the beginning we pardoned our way through the crowds, kindly bopping strangers on the heads with our pillows until we fell into the ruthless pit of pillow fighters.

My friends, this is the real deal.

Ruthlessly vindictive pillow fighters aiming their down-feathered weapons at everyone was quite a site to behold. I had a few bobble head moments, some awkward eye contacts after hitting with fellow pillow fighters here and there, but mainly thunderous laughter. There were some awesome, awesome, awesome costumes people left their houses with. & definitely not to mention the initial fighting words and retaliations people would yell out. I made sure to make a mental note on how the hilarious remarks/quotes of the evening:

"your Asian skills are no match for me!" -- random White kid swinging figure 8's [with two pillows] at an Asian kid

"Ah, shit! I got a feather in my eye!!"-- biker/fighter as he readies himself for battle, only to find that he is owned by a down pillow explosion.

"You fucker, he has a camera! Rule #3 of pillow fight club... no hitting people with cameras"-- shorty with a smart mouthpiece.

"Someone stole my pillow"-- Jory, when he took a rest on the steps... someone jacked it quick!

"He's wearing booty shorts, fuck that... I'm getting him"-- Jeff

"Take down the giant"-- some dude who wanted to gang up on this 6 something guy. Hahah, it was great.

After 2 hours worth of rounds of tag team fighting, we threw down our pillows and made peace with one another. Strolled over to the mobile iPod DJ [on his bike with make shift trolly that supported large speakers] and danced with strangers for a sec then finally decided to leave. We re-energized at our favorite after-clubbing restaurant/casino, Lucky Chances. That never fails us.

The night was all kinds of chaos, sweat, frustration, release and comedy. I had a great time. This was a memorable experience--next year we're going to have to come more prepared. I'm thinking I need a better pillow, goggles and a cover for my mouth. Too many damn feathers!

Here are but only a few of the plethora of pictures we snapped [thanks, Bry]. These pictures do no justice for the energy and excitement of the night. Enjoy!
